Pied Shag from the Basin with fish hook injury

July 20, 2018 by Corina Hooper

I had to catch a baby pied shag from the colony in the Panmure Basin due to a fish hook stuck in its leg. I took the bird to Dr Bryan Gartrell yesterday  morning and he removed the hook. It is back at the sanctuary on antibiotics and pain relief. At this stage we don't know if it will ever be able to use its leg again. We need to stop fishing in the Panmure Basin!

Black backed gull at the sanctuary

May 01, 2018 by Corina Hooper

This black backed gull was brought into the sanctuary by Christina, who found it starving at the Panmure Basin.   At first it was tube fed, as it was so weak,  but it has now started to eat for itself.
